How to file taxes if you’re self-employed in Jamaica

Step 1: Get a TRN

  • If you donโ€™t already have one, apply for a Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN) at any Tax Office or online at:

Step 2: Register as Self-Employed

  • You must register as a self-employed individual with TAJ.
  • This allows them to set up your records for income tax, NIS, and NHT.

As a self-employed person, youโ€™re responsible for:
